Room Information
The rooms have comfortable, pine furniture and pleasant box-spring beds with very high-quality mattresses. Beautiful hand-made patchwork bedspreads adorn the beds. Furthermore, in every room you have the facilities to make yourself a nice cup of tea or coffee. And there is a folder for you to look through with all kinds of interesting information. Most of the rooms look out over the stylish garden or the water of “‘t Boerenverdriet”. In summer you can sit in the garden and enjoy the flowers, the singing birds or the pleasure boats drifting past. Or you can stroll through peaceful Edam or go shopping in the centre of town near by. And if you'd like to explore the surroundings a bit more, you can also rent a bicycle.
Dining & Bar
Restaurant "De Fortuna" has a varied selection of surprising and always appealing meat, fish, poultry and game specialities. All the dishes are cooked in the traditional way with the finest ingredients which the various seasons have to offer. A skilled and extremely talented kitchen team, led by head chef Michel Boon, presents an entirely new menu every 6 to 8 weeks. In addition, they create an extra three-course menu which is not on the menu every week.

Getting to the Hotel & Restaurant De Fortuna
If you are coming from the centre of Amsterdam you drive via the IJ-tunnel on the N-247 in the direction of Hoorn-Leeuwarden. If you are coming from the A-10 ring road, then take the Volendam turn-off until you are on the N-247. After having followed the N-247 for about 18 kilometres, you will pass Edam. Take the first turn-off to the right into Edam and just keep following the signs to the town centre. Once you reach the old town you will pass an old steel bridge. You will see "De Fortuna" on the left immediately after the bridge. Just before the bridge on the right is a car park (Baanstraat) where there is practically always room. If you are coming via the A-7 from the direction of Leeuwarden or the Afsluitdijk then keep following the A-7 in the direction of Amsterdam. Leave the motorway at the Purmerend-Noord,Middenbeemster, Volendam turn-off and take the N-244 in the direction of Volendam. Follow this road until the junction with the N-247. Then turn left in the direction of Edam. After following the N-247 for approximately 500 metres, take the first turn-off to the right into Edam and follow the signs to the centre of town as described above. Edam is only a small town so you cannot get lost. Good luck !
Area Information
Edam is a town with a rich history which goes all the way back to the 12th Century. And that's clearly visible if you take a walk along the many picturesque canals, little streets, alleys, bridges and gables. The Edam Museum, Kaaswaag, Great Church and the Speeltoren have a lot to tell you. Furthermore, Edam has a thriving centre with various attractive shops and nice outdoor cafes. Edam is above all known for its spherical cheese. Every Wednesday in July and August, an original, folkloristic cheese market is held starting at 10.30.
